TAC484

relentless pursuit Jul 01, 2024

By Lee Matthews

Another day spent in the air, this time on the Atlas C.1 (A400M) flying as TAC484 as we conducted CDS (Container Despatch System) drops over Abingdon Dropzone.

After lifting out of Brize, we flew direct to Abingdon, there once harnessed up we lowered the ramp and prepared to drop. As the CDS were released it’s a case of playing chase the ace, moving up as the CDS drop out to try and get a decent shot of the despatch happening.

Drops done, we closed up, dropped low-level then meandered through the topography of the South East of England. This finished with us shooting off the East coast, and heading for home.

The sortie wasn’t done, with our crews completing a number of touch and go’s with the light failing, allowing me to get those light trail shots on landing.

Always a good day… when you’re flying
